Cecil is getting ready for a reely big show.
Bassmaster Elite, a premier fishing tournament, will be coming to the county in August.
According to Sandy Turner, from Cecil Tourism, the county is "knee deep in preparations."
"We're still looking for sponsors," said Turner.
Cecil's locations for the Bassmaster Elite are Anchor Marina and the North East Community Park. There are eight regular Elite tournaments held annually and they attract as many as 30,000 attendees.
The Elite is televised.
In order to meet the mandates to host the Bassmaster Elite, Cecil County will also host the two-day Summerfest, on August 15-16 in the North East Park.
This event will run from 11 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. both days. Entertainment will include live bands. There will also be food and family activities. There will be fishing related demonstrations and displays.
Turner said there is space for 25-30 vendors. That will include local artisans and crafters.
There will also be 10 food vendors selling a myriad of items.
There will be three to five vendors selling one food item. One of the highlights during Summerfest will be the daily weigh-ins from the Bassmaster competitors.
Since parking will be limited in the park, there will be free shuttles running continuously beginning at 10 a.m. Parking will be at Richie Brothers, Route 40.
