For those who are stuck in the days of yore, it would appear that Charlestown's municipal election would be coming up early in the new year.
But for the second time, the election will be held in March.
Tuesday, March 4, 2014 is town election day.
The board members whose two-year terms expire this year, are currently leaders. Board president Dr. Robert Gell, vice president Renee Capano, and treasurer Ken Confalone are up for election.
The last day to register to vote in the town election is Friday, January 31. That date at 5 p.m. is also the deadline to file for one of the seats on the town board. The town commissioners will be sworn in on March 11.
In other business:
• The town will take more control and have greater management authority over the slips they own at C Dock. The town has owned the pier slips for years. They are currently leased to renters by a third party.
While the town won't take over the day to day operations, they will have a greater maintenance responsibility at the property. Town officials have worked to finalize a new deal between themselves and the third party who rents on the town's behalf. "This has been intense for a year," said Charlestown town administrator Wib Pumpaly.
