It will soon be a smoother ride in downtown Charlestown.
Today, town officials are expected to award a contract which will provide for paving on a portion of Louisa Lane as well as street patching and pothole repair. Nearly 20 potholes will be filled. All of the potholes have been identified and numbered with paint.
In other business from Charlestown:
• Preparations are underway for the 13th annual Riverfest Kid's Fishing Tournament and Awards Cook Out. This event will be held Saturday, August 8 from 9-11 a.m. at the Stone Wharf off Water Street.
This event is sponsored by The Wellwood, Herb's Tackle Shop, and Sarge's Tackle Shop and is open to all children under age 16. Support for the event is provided by the Northern Bay Chapter of the Maryland Saltwater Sportsfishing Association.
Following the fishing, there will be a cook out for anglers and families. There will be door prizes and fishing rod giveaways. Bait and rods will also be provided for the tournament if needed.
