As part of the construction of the Parklands apartment complex in Cecilton, the town received use of a 48-person capacity community room.
Groups are using the facility, but there's still room for more. Cecilton town clerk Kim Roland said recently that the room is already being used by a Bible study group and the Cecilton Lions Club. The rental fee for the room is $250. There is also a $50 refundable hold fee. That amount is refunded after the room is inspected following the usage.
It is available between the hours of 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. But is not usually available on holidays. The room can be rented for a few hours or the whole day. It features a warming kitchen, refrigerator, and sink. There is a small
lounge with a TV set. There is seating and tables for the 48 people.
The town will host the Maryland Municipal League there in the coming weeks.
"The rental money is used for the utilities and to pay the staff. Even if the room isn't used, we maintain it. It's a good asset to the community and very modern," said Roland.
