After a two year absence, the Cecil County Pregnancy Center is coming back to Rising Sun.
The center was formerly located in town and in 2013 was in the 100 block of Ryan Drive. According to Dan Mohler, director the the Cecil County Pregnancy Center, that location closed after a year and a half because it was cost-prohibitive.
The center will be back in Rising Sun, using a room at Janes United Methodist Church on Walnut Street. Beginning May 20, the center will be open in that location from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Fridays. Services offered include education and pregnancy tests. "We will have limited services in Rising Sun - the educational materials and the pregnancy tests. But we can bring clothes and such the next week," said Mohler.
He also said there is a need.
"We have clients from here. A lot of young women can't get to Elkton. Our mission is to serve the whole county," said Mohler.
The main center is located at 138 Cathedral Street, Elkton. That site is open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The Rising Sun location won't be the only new site for the Cecil County Pregnancy Center. Beginning July 7, the center will have a satellite at North East United Methodist Church, South Main Street, on Thursdays from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
