He may have retired from broadcasting the news, but you haven't seen the last of WJZ-TV's Don Scott.
He is coming to North East on Saturday, December 6. Scott has been tapped to be the Grand Marshal for the annual Cecil County Christmas Parade.
Parade Committee member Anne Fazio said she asked Scott to do the honors. "He's a really, really nice man," said Fazio. She said he was selected because he is a local icon and is a familiar face for people in the county.
Scott retired from television July 11 after working at WJZ for 40 years. He started working at the station July 7, 1974. He was the anchor of the station's Morning Edition show since 1984.
Scott is just the latest personality chosen to be honored at the parade.
Last year, the 2013 parade fell on December 7. World War II Veterans were grand marshals because the parade date coincided with National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. In 2012, Baltimore Colts legend Tom Matte was grand marshal. Information for participating in the parade with a marching group, float, or other group will be forthcoming.
