When weather permits, a work crew is toiling along the Route 40 corridor in the area of the Tractor Supply in Elkton.
Ten months from now, that dirt lot will be replaced by a fleet of Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles. The opening of a new auto dealership, means that Chrysler and Dodge dealers will return to the area for the first time in the about five years since Advantage Dodge and Sturgill Dodge shut their doors.
"We are excited to come to Cecil County," said Al Guckes, Jr., a representative of the Hertrich Family of Auto Dealerships. "We are looking forward to bringing Chrysler back to Cecil County and the Elkton area."
The Elkton project will consist of a 5.5 acre site where a 24,000 square foot showroom and service department will be constructed. There is also a pad site which will allow for future expansion.
The initial site work, grading and such, is underway. Chip Bromwell, Chief Building Inspector for the Town of Elkton, said that the building plan approval is pending.
Guckes said that dealership will bring about 50 jobs - service technicians, detailers, sales staff, managers, and finance people to the county. To apply for these jobs at the Elkton Hertrich or other locations online at email@example.com or call 855-669-2719. Hiring for the Elkton site will take place at the end of summer. Expansion at the Elkton site will bring more jobs in the future. Hertrich already has dealerships in Pocomoke, Easton, and Denton, Maryland, Seaford, Milford, Dover, and New Castle, Delaware as well as Middletown, New Jersey.
