It may be slightly awkward when your boss earns less than you do.
Sheriff Scott Adams is the lowest paid department head in Cecil County government.
Adams earns $79,675 annually and can't earn overtime pay doing police work. Adams' salary is set by code. If he is elected to another term, the salary will jump to $100,000. If he doesn't win reelection, his successor will earn that amount. In 2016, county officials moved for a salary hike. In 2014, Cecil's sheriff earned $71,500 per year.
