Jen McDowell always envisioned herself serving the Southern End community. She did not initially expect it would come in a coaching capacity.
"When I was in high school I never imagined I'd ever be a coach," said McDowell, a 1992 Solanco grad.
She was wrong.
Following a long career which included a stint as an assistant and head coaching positions with the Mules' junior high track and cross country teams, McDowell has earned the opportunity to take over Solanco's varsity track and field program.
The Solanco Junior High boys and girls track and field teams both defeated visiting Cocalico in the last dual meet of the season to finish with a 5-2 record.
The Solanco track and field teams both lost to visiting Elizabethtown Wednesday, April 17.
"Both teams continue to improve and earn their goals for the meet," Mules coach Ivan Haines said.
Solanco's Junior High track and field teams both improved to 3-1 on the season by beating Garden Spot in a home meet Tuesday, April 9.
