The Solanco softball team lost 8-6 to Donegal in the quarterfinals of the Lancaster-Lebanon League Tournament Monday, May 13 at Garrett Park. Donegal scored four runs in the sixth to overcome a 6-4 deficit. "We just needed to do better defensively," Solanco coach Brett Miller said.
The Solanco JV girls softball team had a very successful 2013 season. The Mules went 16-1 with the lone loss coming in a time-shortened game. Solanco hit for a team average of .450 for the season which included 51 extra base hits. The Mules connected on 17 home runs, 10 triples, and 24 doubles. The Mules outscored their opponents 249-29.
The Solanco baseball team's season came to an end with an 11-1 six-inning loss to Hempfield in the Lancaster-Lebanon League semifinals Tuesday, May 14.
The Mules took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first before Hempfield took over. Damon Kreider reached when the second baseman could not handle a chopper. He moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and Darren Rutledge drew a walk. With two out, Harrison Ault delivered a bloop RBI single to center. Caleb Groff singled sharply to left to load the bases but the next batter struck out.
