Solanco senior Keirra Laird wanted one final goal before she concluded her high school career.
She got it at the last possible second. Laird scored just prior to the final buzzer in the Mules' season-ending 3-1 loss to visiting Cocalico Friday, October 11. The Solanco field hockey team played on even terms with visiting Kennard-Dale between the circles.
It's what happened in the scoring area that decided the outcome. Kennard-Dale took advantage of its opportunities and downed the Mules 5-1 in the season opener Friday, August 30. The Solanco volleyball team has spent the two previous seasons setting a foundation.
Now it's time to see what the Mules can construct. "We're still in the building process but I have set the bar pretty high because we have tons of talent," Solanco coach Meghan Cross said. "It's a motivated group who wants to play. They've been working well together. We still have a young team. I look forward to the next couple of years. This team will continue to grow in their confidence and their volleyball." Fundamentals and friendship.
Those were the two hallmarks of Solanco High School's field hockey camp. Solanco High coaches and players provided instruction and worked to build relationships during the 17th annual "Big Sister, Little Sister" camp, which was held last week at the school. by Bud Hart
Solanco’s field hockey team shut out Lancaster Mennonite, 2-0, at home on Tuesday, September 5, behind the offensive play of Jada Brown who scored a goal in each half. |
