Ever sit in the stands at a Little League game and feel certain you could do a better job than the umpires?
Here's your chance to show it. Little League Maryland District 5 (Rising Sun, Elkton, Chesapeake City, North East, Perryville, and Havre de Grace) is sponsoring free classes for new and inexperienced umpires. The clinics will be held Sunday evenings beginning January 7. Classes for youth 18 and under are from 5:30-7:30 p.m. with adult classes from 8-10 p.m. Rising Sun's 10-11 baseball All-Stars rallied again.
This time, the comeback came up a little short. Four County Little League held on for a 17-15 victory Thursday night at Eder Park to knock Rising Sun out of the state tournament. Wednesday night's performance was further proof. Spioch pitched well, homered, and delivered the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to propel Rising Sun to the District 5 Little League baseball title with a 7-6 triumph over Elkton. St. Mary's Little League's Junior softball All-Stars forced a decisive game for the state title by topping Rising Sun 11-9 Tuesday, July 12, at Eder Park.
