The Chesapeake City Little League 9-10 softball All-Stars lost 19-1 to Sharpsburg Monday, July 20, in the state championship round.
After dropping the tourney opener, Chesapeake City won three straight games to make the final round but did not have its experienced pitchers available against Sharpsburg. Dylan Snyder tossed a six-inning shutout to lead Chesapeake City to a 10-0 triumph over Rising Sun in a Junior baseball losers bracket game Tuesday in Rising Sun.

North East's Madison Culver singled to knock in Sydney Webster in the top of the first but Chesapeake City took the lead for good in the bottom of the second. Chesapeake City Little League advanced to the championship round of the 9-10 baseball tournament by downing Rising Sun 12-9 Friday.
Chesapeake City needs two straight wins over undefeated Elkton to claim the crown, starting Saturday morning at 11. Leading 9-1 after 2 1/2 innings, Chesapeake City survived a few anxious moments over the final frames. Chesapeake City eliminated Perryville from the Little League Maryland District 5 Major Division softball tournament by holding on for a 7-6 triumph Wednesday evening in North East.
Ahead 7-4, Chesapeake City was one out away from winning before Gabby Frazier belted an RBI triple. She scored on an infield hit by Hannah Gordon to trim Perryville's deficit down to 7-6. Gordon stole second and third, but winning pitcher Arianna Frey fanned the next batter to secure the victory in the back-and-forth affair. Perryville's Senior Division baseball team stayed alive by topping Chesapeake City 2-1 Wednesday.
Perryville and Rising Sun posted first round wins as the Little League Maryland District 5 softball tournament got underway Sunday in North East.
In the second contest of the day, Perryville nipped Chesapeake City 2-1 in a well-played game. With the game tied 1-1, Perryville scored the go-ahead run in the home half of the fourth. The Elkton All-Stars manufactured a run in the top of the ninth inning to defeat Chesapeake City 5-4 Friday in a Senior Division baseball first round game in Havre de Grace.
Jeremy Husfelt started the decisive rally by drawing a walk. He advanced to second on a perfectly executed sacrifice bunt by Rudy Webster. Husfelt moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a passed ball with one out. The Rising Sun All-Stars earned the Little League Maryland District 5 9-10 baseball title by beating Chesapeake City 6-5 Tuesday in Rising Sun. Rising Sun came out of the losers bracket and posted two straight wins over Chesapeake City to claim the crown. In Tuesday's decisive game, Rising Sun built a 6-2 lead and withstood a sixth-inning Chesapeake City rally. Grant Mackie's two-run single cut his team's deficit to 6-2 with one out in the top of the sixth. |
