SLIDESHOW: Usually, Mustangs are known for stampeding. During Elijah Johnson's 61-yard run in the fourth quarter Friday night, it was the Mustangs who were trampled by a one-man stampede by the Panthers' senior quarterback. Quarterback Elijah Johnson had a direct hand in seven touchdowns to propel the Perryville football team to a 61-36 triumph over visiting C. Milton Wright Friday night.
Johnson tossed four touchdown passes and ran for three more scores to ensure the Panthers would have a happy Homecoming. Perryville never trailed and scored the game's final 21 points to pull away. The Rising Sun boys soccer team saw their 11-game win streak come to an end Friday as host Kennett (Pa.) topped the visiting Tigers 3-0 on the turf.
It was a step up in competition for Rising Sun (11-2), who have recorded romps over most of their league foes, and the Tigers performed admirably. FIELD HOCKEY

The teams played two 10-minute overtime periods and a best-of-five penalty stroke shootout but could not break the deadlock. The Perryville volleyball team swept host North East Wednesday night.
The Panthers prevailed 25-22, 25-22, and 25-12. The Rising Sun girls soccer team tallied nine times in the second half on the way to a 10-0 triumph over visiting Havre de Grace Wednesday.
The Tigers experimented with a different lineup and scored early on a 30-yard shot by Taylor Mocknis. The Rising Sun girls cross country team captured the Susquehanna Division title for the second straight season. The Tigers (47) edged Bohemia Manor (57) in the eight-school competition held Tuesday, October 7 at Edgewood High. North East's Erin Palmer won the race in a course-record time of 20:00.09 followed by Edgewood's Rachel Goldsborough, Bohemia Manor's Elle Meyer, Rising Sun's Alanah Bell, and Aberdeen's Kelsey Dunn. Bohemia Manor's Jamie Brudy was sixth followed by North East's Briana Bruckart, the Tigers' Josie Brown and Emma Wheeler, and Aberdeen's Jordan Bryant. The Perryville and Rising Sun field hockey teams each recorded a victory at the University of Delaware Monday night.
The Panthers downed Bohemia Manor 3-0. Krissy McDuff scored a goal in each half and Kyleigh Knell added a first half goal. The Tigers nipped North East 1-0 on a goal by Mallory Tiffin midway through the second half. The Perryville football team dropped its second straight game falling 42-12 to host Bel Air Friday night.
The undefeated Bobcats scored 2:34 into the game and never looked back. Bel Air upped the lead to 14-0 with 2:30 left in the opening quarter before the Panthers got going. Mikaela Berg and Jackie Barbon led the offense and the defense held firm as the Rising Sun girls soccer team won twice last week to raise its winning streak to eight.
