Perryville girls track and field team placed first and the boys also placed first in a three team meet held at Havre de Grace High school last Tuesday May 9.
The Panthers (96) topped Rising Sun (59) and Havre de Grace (30). Elkton boys track and field team placed second in a three-team meet on May 9.
Harford Tech (82) defeated Elkton (79) and Aberdeen (1). Rising Sun boys lacrosse ended their regular season with an 11-7 triumph over visiting Perryville Thursday night, May 4. The Tigers are 11-1 heading into the playoffs. "Before I took this job, I had this misconceived perception that this team at Rising Sun didn't work as hard, they were a white collar team, and they were kind of expecting things to be fed to them on a silver spoon and from the day I got here, these kids proved to me that I couldn't have been more wrong about this school and about this program. This team has got the most heart that I have ever seen on a lacrosse field," said Rising Sun head coach Justin Parker. Perryville softball defeated Rising Sun in a 2-0 victory on May 1. Brooke Reynolds hit a single in the top of the second, putting a man on first. Reynolds took the opportunity to steal to second opening up first base. Emily Phillips was walked putting men on first and second. Amber Keene was next up to bat and bunted the ball, was out at first but allowed Reynolds to score the first run for the Panthers. Zachary Laird, Alex Longeway, John Knight, and Anthony Egurola each scored in their events to lead Bo Manor's boys track team to a second place finish in UCBAC meet. Edgewood won the boys competition with 106 points while Bo Manor scored 96. Harford Tech (84) was third followed by Bel Air (64), Havre de Grace (53), Perryville (50), Aberdeen (50), C. Milton Wright (48.5), North East (39.5), Elkton (28), Fallston (19.33), North Harford (17.33), Rising Sun (17), Joppatowne (16), and Patterson Mill (13.33). The Rising Sun tennis team ended their season 16-0 after downing host North East 10-1 Tuesday, May 2. The Tigers then defeated Havre de Grace 11-0 on May 4. Number one single, Amber Burrell defeated Morgan Wyman with scores of 6-0, 6-1. Number two single Kaysie Mackie won with 6-1, 6-4. Number three single Meghan Rohrer also triumphed, 6-1, 6-2. In first doubles, Anna Chidester/Brianna Rohrer defeated Karley Mclhatton/Keegan Carew, in straight sets. Number two doubles Maura Elburn/Samantha Sexton defeated Kate Smith/Megan Williamson, 6-0, 6-1. Elkton's girls lacrosse team led early and finished strong to post its third win of the season. The Elks ended up with a 17-9 victory over visiting Bo Manor last Thursday, April 27. Elkton head coach Kelly Zimmerman said she is hopeful this win will allow her team to turn the corner and give the players the push they need to improve their record. The Elks fired the first three goals giving them a foothold early on. Bo Manor was able to tie things up half way through the first period after Haley Criddle scored three goals. Rising Sun boys lacrosse defeated visiting Jopppatowne 18-1 on April 27. Ben Ehrhart had three goals and five assists for the Tigers. Stephen Szkalak supplied three goals and two assists. Quinn Struble and Ryan Yashinkskie each had three goals and an assist. Bo Manor boys track and field team finished first and the Rising Sun girls were second in the Susquehanna Divisional Meet at North East High School on April 20.
The boys (161) topped Havre de Grace (117.2), Patterson Mill (84.2), Fallston (79.7), North East (78), Joppatowne (69.5), Elkton (55), and Rising Sun (48.4). The Eagles took three of the distance races, Alex Longeway triumphed in the 800 and 1600. Zachary Laird prevailed in the 3200. |
