A Rising Sun High School student commitee is working to enhance the school in whatever way they can.
Tuesday, October 15, a group of students was picking up trash around the school while others were cleaning a mulch bed near the front door.
They're all part of the Student Roundtable, an organization that works with school administrators on a variety of projects, said Annette Moore, one of the group's advisors.
President Kate Siple meets monthly with three advisors and RSHS principal Anne Gellrich. "The Roundtable helps make decisions about the school and works on different projects to make the school better," Siple said.
Siple said a schoolwide talent shows is in the planning stages and would serve as a fundraiser for the Roundtable. The organization, comprised of 15 students, also plans to explore other community service projects.
Siple began trying to form the group four years ago and it has now taken hold. "This is the first year it's really come into focus," she said.
Advisor Alice Brown says the group's mission is to "enhance the school".
That's exactly what they were doing last week as Roundtable members and other volunteers worked the beautify the school grounds.
"We're helping to clean up around the school like Good Samaritans," student Taylor Eisenhuth said.
