Mayor Robert McKnight can't print money.
So the Town of North East will make do with what they have.
That's what he told town officials last week.
"We can't print money. If we could, we'd never have to raise fees for anything," said McKnight, who also noted that the town doesn't want to incur a large amount of debt.
Before being named Person of the Year by Rising Sun's Lions Club, Dawn Deckman had to work for it.
Deckman was invited by Rising Sun Lions Club past president Ellen Lucas to talk about the Neighborhood Youth Panel, an organization for which Deckman serves as a volunteer. About 15 years ago, Deckman started volunteering with youth at Janes United Methodist Church. She was then offered the job as youth director and started studying religion at Liberty University. She then volunteered with Fellowship with Christian Athletes and later became a board member and staffer. She is also a character coach for the Rising Sun girls soccer and lacrosse teams. She serves as a mentor and role model to many children in the community. She's a mother of three children, two step-children, and seven grandchildren. She and her husband, Mark live near Rising Sun.
