With a mix of returning favorites and a slew of brand new vendors, Sunfest 2017 is coming together nicely.
The event is set for Saturday, June 3 in downtown Rising Sun.
Sunfest chairman Vincent Sammons said a great deal came together earlier than usual this year. "In a nutshell, we probably have about 50 percent new vendors due to early sign up. Many of which were crafters as we received a lot of feedback that folks wanted more handmade items," said Sammons. He recruited those who make handicrafts.

If you're a friend in need, Gail Elseroad is a friend indeed.
Elseroad has been both Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny for her friend Paula Ball's favorite charity - Samm's Lymphoma Fight Foundation.
Right now Elseroad, a mother of five and a grandmother, has her bunny ears on.
It may be cold outside, but members of Rising Sun's Sunfest committee are already thinking June.
And those vendors who are also thinking ahead will be rewarded for it by getting slots they've had in the past.
Sunfest chair Vincent Sammons explained that any vendors who were at Sunfest last year have until January 1 to apply to be at Sunfest again. Those who do so, will retain their space from last year. He said that people from as far away as West Virginia want to sell their wares in Rising Sun. "We are changing it up with the early applications. We want to get things organized earlier. We want to have all our ducks in a row before it starts," said Sammons.
