Jane Hurst has driven through the Town of North East for years.
Last week, she decided to stop in and check it out. Hurst, of New Holland, Pennsylvania, and seven other Red Hat Society members spent their day in North East. Hurst said she visited the town as a child and often visits Sandy Cove Ministries.
The eight women came to the town in two cars and wanted to look at the local attractions before lunching at Woody's on Main Street.
"I have driven through here but never stopped," said Red Hat member Ruthie Musser. "I want to see what there is here. They have neat looking shops."
The women, ages 60-72, were decked out in their Red Hat attire.
They explained their philosophy. "When I get old I will wear a red hat with a purple dress that doesn't go." "It means we enjoy getting older," said Musser.
The women are part of the Red Hat Rockers Group from Petra Christian Fellowship in New Holland.
