Minutes after Paula Lutz told her granddaughter, Emerson Stehl, that there had been a fire at Frank's Pizza in North East, Stehl, 5, got to work.
Stehl, a kindergarten student at The Tome School, got out her travel art kit and began making pictures from marker, stickers, pen and sequins. Her goal is to sell her handmade art and then mail a donation to Frank's Pizza. Just hours after she started work, she had collected about $4 from family and friends.
"When we get pizza, that's her favorite place to get it," explained Emerson's mom, Meredith.
"I want to send money to Frank's Pizza," said Emerson. "It's my favorite because my mom never gets pepperoni on mine. I feel sad for the people and want to help them."
Meredith Stehl explained that the family frequently gets pizza from Frank's and at times the family has bought dough from the store and used that to create their own pizza at home.
