The Yankees captured Solanco Little League's Minor Division title by beating the Phillies 11-3 Friday night, June 17. Coleson Brown pitched the first 3 1/3 innings for the Yankees and Nathan Esh tossed 2 2/3 scoreless frames.
Phillies leadoff batter Christopher Malloy walked to start the game, stole two bases, and scored on an error. The Yankees scored the maximum of five runs in the home half. Brown singled to left, advanced to third on Jace Aukamp's groundout, and scored on an error on a grounder by Esh. Dylan Roberts drove in a run on a popup single to give the Yankees the lead for good. Three straight walks made it 4-1 and Austin Ecks added an RBI single. The Yankees tacked on three more in the second inning. Brown smashed a one-out single and eventually scored on a wild pitch. Aukamp walked and scored on an Esh single and Esh scored on a wild pitch. The Phillies tallied twice in the third to narrow the gap to 8-3. Malloy had a bunt hit and scored on Vinny Casella's groundout. Liam Foley reached on an error and scored on a bases-loaded walk. In the fourth, Brown singled and scored and Cooper Boros produced an RBI single to up the Yankees' lead to 11-3. The Yankees (16-0) capped off an undefeated season. Phillies manager Rick Malloy said Solanco Little League is grateful for the season-long work of umpires Tom Duane, Nate Brooks, Don Wenger. Solanco will host the Little League District 23 Minor Division All-Star Tournament beginning July 9. Warwick and Tulpehocken will be the other two participants. Comments are closed.
