Havre de Grace scored 13 unanswered runs over the fourth and fifth innings to oust Rising Sun from the district 9-10 baseball tournament with a 15-5 triumph in five innings last Wednesday. Rising Sun led 5-3 with two outs and two runners on in the bottom of the fourth when starter Cameron Klotz reached his pitch limit and had to be removed.
Havre de Grace narrowed the gap to 5-4 on a bunt hit and tied it thanks to two wild pitches. The go-ahead run scored on an error on the throw back to the pitcher. Havre de Grace tacked on two more on two wild pitches. After Rising Sun was unable to respond in the top of the fifth, Havre de Grace tallied seven times to end the game via the mercy rule. Rising Sun started strong. Jared Eldreth led off the game with a double to right-center and moved up a base on Luke Trout's single to center. Klotz delivered an RBI single but a runner was caught off third base for the first out. With two outs, Bradley Dietz got an RBI on an infield hit when his little pop up toward the right side of the infield bounced and spun away from a Havre de Grace fielder. In the second, Mason Testerman was hit by a pitch and wound up scoring on a groundout by Trout. Rising Sun went up 4-0 in the third. Dietz bounced a single through the hole and scored on Wyatt McDowell's RBI single. Havre de Grace cut the deficit in half in the home half before Layne Hull knocked in a run with an infield hit. It was all Havre de Grace after that. Comments are closed.
