The Rising Sun volleyball team celebrated Senior Night with a 25-6, 25-12, 25-2 rout of visiting C. Milton Wright Thursday night. Breelyn Young served 14 aces for the Tigers. Sophia Eckerd recorded a team-high 12 kills and Emily Jackson had four kills. Megan Hoyle notched 20 assists. Rising Sun coach Rich Wilson is optimistic heading into the playoffs.
"I feel much better [after the win over Bel Air] than I did [after the loss to Tatnall]," Wilson said. "We're a pretty solid team. There are any number of areas we need to improve in. Offensively, we're hitting well but we're making a lot of errors at the same time. They cancel each other out, obviously. Some of it is systemic. Part of my problem is I keep forgetting [how relatively young the team is]. Young and Hoyle lead a solid senior class, but five key players are underclassmen – juniors Jackson and Rachel Cohen and sophomores Eckerd Lauren Hudson, and Kendal Lammers. "I keep having this mental issue," Wilson said. "We're actually much younger than I think we are. Unfortunately, it shows up periodically. It's something experience takes care of…I'd like to be better prepared offensively than we are. Serving-wise and defensively, I think we're really good. It's going to be as far as our offense can take us."
