Down to its final five outs, Rising Sun's Junior League baseball All-Stars rallied to top Chesapeake City 5-3 Saturday in North East and force a winner take all game to decide the District 5 title. Trailing 2-0 in the top of the sixth, Chesapeake City starter reached his pitch limit after walking Jared Stanley and Rising Sun took advantage. Mason Craig drew a walk then stole second to put runners on second and third. Joseph Husfelt tied it with a two-run double to right-center and pinch runner Xavier Gilcher scored on Luke Hamm's RBI single to right-center to give Rising Sun a 3-2 lead. Chesapeake City countered quickly. Tyler Hayden led off the bottom of the sixth with a booming triple to dead center. Jake Harris followed with an RBI single to right to make it 3-3. Due in part to a baserunning mistake, Chesapeake City was unable to take the lead. With one out in the top of the seventh, JJ Psenicska doubled over the left fielder's head. Jon Valentine followed with a single to center to drive in the go-ahead run. Valentine took second on the throw to the plate and scored on Jared Stanley's single to right. Nate Wassin, who came on with two outs in the fourth, retired Chesapeake City in order to secure the victory. The two teams meet Sunday at 1 p.m. with the district title on the line. Chesapeake City had taken a 1-0 in the first without putting the ball in play on four walks and three strikeouts. Hayden's double to left with one out in the fourth was Chesapeake City's first hit. He moved to third on a passed ball and scored on an error. Feeney held Rising Sun at bay until he reached his pitch limit. Chesapeake City stranded 12 baserunners, including a runner at third in the first five innings. Rising Sun 20, North East 6 North East eliminated Rising Sun took command with seven runs in the top of the first. JJ Psenicska led off with a single. Nate Husfelt started the scoring with an RBI double which bounced over the left field fence. Luke Hamm and Willie Jackson each added an RBI single. One run scored on a balk and another two on an error. Joey Trout added an RBI single in the second to make it 9-0. North East got within striking distance by tallying four times in the bottom of the second. Mike Hammer-Nye hit a two-run double down the left field line. Rising Sun's Robbie Stickley supplied an RBI single in the third and Psenicska clubbed an RBI triple in the fourth. Rising Sun 8, Elkton 5 (8 innings) Elkton eliminated Rising Sun stayed alive with an extra inning win Thursday night. Mason Craig collected a double, single, and three RBIs. Joey Trout had two hits and two RBIs. JJ Psenicska and Jon Valentine each recorded a hit and an RBI.
