The Rising Sun girls basketball team bounced back from a sluggish start to down host North East 38-25 Thursday night. Trailing 8-5 after the first eight minutes, the Tigers outscored the Indians 16-5 in the second quarter to take a 21-13 halftime lead. Abby Mack scored the last six points prior to halftime. "I think the girls just kept their composure," Rising Sun coach Kathy Stoudt said. "A lot of times we get rattled and tonight was just one night where they were calm. They ran the offense better and there was a lot of movement on offense, which we need, and sometimes we don't do. We just watch what the other person. What's Lexi going to do with the ball? What's Abby going to do? So, I thought they (had) good team movement on offense and it helped." The offense has principles of the triangle offense made famous by former Chicago Bulls assistant coach Tex Winter. "It's a new offense we put in this season so I think now they're just getting more confidence in it and more experience with it," said Stoudt. "It's definitely helped us movement-wise … It causes the girls to move a lot … It has a created a lot more movement for us and I just want to build on that for the future." Mack collected 12 points, eight blocks, and seven rebounds. Lexi Osborne added 10 points. Kaytlen Nugent notched seven points and 12 rebounds. Rising Sun has won four in a row and six of seven.
