The Perryville girls and Elkton boys won the team titles at the Cecil County track and field meet at Rising Sun Tuesday, April 12. In the girls competition, the Panthers (146) defeated Rising Sun (91), North East (51), Elkton (45), and Bohemia Manor (39). It was the sixth straight county championship for the Perryville girls.
Alysa Conway captured four individual events and Autumn Estep swept the two hurdles events and was part of two winning relay teams. Conway prevailed in the 100, 200, 400, and triple jump. Estep teamed with Jasmyn Strong, Christen Dodson, and Ellie Kuhn to take the 4 x 200 relay and combined with Brooke Doane, Kuhn, and Kailee McCutchen to won the 4 x 400 relay. Jarah Cevis (shot put), Erica Scheppelmann (pole vault), and Brooke Doane (long jump) each notched a victory. Second place Rising Sun won four events. Danielle Lee triumphed in the 800 and Teresa Reid recorded a won in the 3200. Jackie Ayers, Cheyanne Johnson, Asia Hollis, and Madison Webb teamed to take the 4 x 100 relay. Julia Herrmann, Danielle Lee, Reid, and Emma Wheeler won the 4 x 800 relay. North East's Sarah Kubat triumphed in the discus. Kirstin Walz of Bohemia Manor won the 1600. Elkton's Tara Brown prevailed in the high jump. In the boys competition, Elkton (86) edged Rising Sun (83) with North East (76) third followed by Bohemia Manor (69), and Perryville (58). The Elks captured six events. Zyphere Ruffin won the 200 and 400 and Raiquon Estep claimed the long jump and triple jump. Peter Olakunle nipped Rising Sun's Jacob Cohen to win the 100 by less than a 10th of a second. Kyair Cook won the high jump. The Tigers' Noah Ulrich prevailed in the pole vault. Colin Cascio, Jared Edmundson, Ryan Hendrickson, and Cohen teamed to take the 4 x 200 relay. For North East, Alec Preisch claimed the shot put and discus. Taylor Danglade, Kobie Matthews, Tiko Winbush, and Jalen Giles won the 4 x 100 relay. Jack Franceschina took the 800 and 1600 to pace the Eagles. Grant Franceschina won the 3200. Jared Morse, Robert Messick, Jack Franceschina, and Cameron Garcia combined to win the 4 x 400 relay. For Perryville, Dayvon Montz swept the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles. Ben Douty, Ben Buckless, Matt Salvatore, and Jacobo Negron prevailed in the 4 x 800 relay. Comments are closed.
