Tougher tests await and Perryville field hockey coach Janet Candy thinks her team will be up to the challenge. The Panthers (4-0) finished off a four-game stretch of non-division games by blanking Edgewood 4-0 Friday afternoon. Taylor Poore scored just 30 seconds into the game to get Perryville started. Claire Hudson, who assisted on Poore's goal, made it 2-0 with 16:11 left in the first half with Kyleigh Knell picking up an assist.
Aubrey Hill and Hudson each scored a goal in the second half. Poore had an assist on each tally. Perryville outshot Edgewood 23-0. "We're looking good. We're looking strong," said Candy. "We still have some stuff to work, little better passing and communication, but I'm feeling really good about it." The Panthers begin Chesapeake Division play Tuesday at North Harford and host Patterson Mill Thursday. "It's always tough to play the Chesapeake no matter who you play before," said Candy. "But we like the tough competition especially heading into playoffs where it's really important. Our season started off well and we hope to carry that on to the tough division." Perryville routed Aberdeen 8-1 last Wednesday. Knell notched a hat trick and Poore provided a pair of goals. Lydia Hill, Ali Hunter, and Ashley Meekins each added a goal. Hudson had three assists. Knell, Poore, and Ally Remesch each recorded an assist. Comments are closed.
