It didn't take long for Perryville's Claire Hudson to get an edge on her sister Kendie. Claire Hudson scored just 49 seconds into Monday night's game at the University of Delaware as the Panthers went on to a 4-0 triumph over the North East squad coached by Kendie Hudson. Claire acknowledged the goal was especially meaningful. "We've always been competitive sisters," she said.
Claire had to keep reminding herself to listen to her coach Janet Candy instead of an even more familiar voice. "It's so weird," Claire Hudson said. "I'm so used to listening to everything Kendie says. But she has a really good team and she's a great coach so it's really hard blocking her out." It was also an emotional night for Kendie Hudson, who starred at Perryville before playing at Elizabethtown College. "It's exciting in the fact that I have a lot in store for [Perryville]," said Kendie Hudson. "Of course I want to win. Playing against my sister is a big deal for me. We had a little trash talk ourselves. It stinks losing to them but they deserved to win." It also meant a great deal for Kendie Hudson to coach against Candy. "I model myself after Janet," Kendie said. "Janet was my high school coach and she provides a lot of advice and wisdom for me as a new head coach myself. [The North East girls] know the [Perryville players] have been playing together for a long time, together indoors and in rec leagues, and Janet has built the program to how she wants it to run. What I take from that for my girls is we're a young team. We only have four seniors and a couple juniors and mostly sophomores. In the next couple years, we expect to really build. Krissy McDuff tallied twice for the Panthers and Taylor Poore added a goal. Bohemia Manor 7, Joppatowne 0 Lindsey Ford and Daniella Vibriesta each led the Eagles with two goals and Alyson Getty, Regan Dunn, and Mary Carlyle each scored. Elkton 1, Rising Sun 0 Gabby Arienza scored the game's only goal with 8:39 left in regulation to lead the Elks. Comments are closed.
