North East Little League captured the District 5 Junior Division baseball title with a 12-5 triumph over Elkton Thursday night in Rising Sun. North East scored six runs in the top of the third to snap a 2-2 tie. Drake Bare and Pat O'Brien both walked and Eric Steele walked to load the bases. Chase Hollister put North East in front for good with an RBI infield single up the middle.
Legend Price was hit by a pitch to make it 4-2. Zach Chadwick knocked in a run with a single on a fly ball that dropped in deep down the right field line. Mason Rice recorded an RBI single, Luke Hamilton walked with the bases loaded, and Chase Klein hit a sacrifice fly to up the lead to 8-2. Tony Mrozowski's bunt single keyed a three-run fourth which an included an RBI single by Hamilton. That put North East ahead 11-2. Hollister came on in relief in the first inning and earned the win. Hamilton pitched a scoreless seventh to close it out. North East started strong with two in the first. Hollister had an RBI single. Elkton answered with two in the home half. Jeremy Mullins delivered a two-run single. That's when Hollister came in to pitch. North East finished the tournament undefeated. Elkton was riding high after an unbelievable win the night before. Chesapeake City led by 10 runs entering the bottom of the seventh, but Elkton came all the way back to tie and then won the game in the eighth. Comments are closed.
