Elkton Little League's Senior baseball team scored a run in the top of the seventh to top previously undefeated Rising Sun 7-6 and force a decisive game for the district title. The championship contest is scheduled for 5:30 today at Stancill Park in Havre de Grace. Kyle Spencer was a hit by a pitch to start the seventh. Victor Norris laid down a bunt up the first base line. Rising Sun pitcher Nate McCullough field the ball and tagged out Norris. He then flipped a throw toward second base but the ball sailed into centerfield, enabling Spencer to take third. With Rising Sun forced to play its infield up, Colin Harkey took advantage by blooping an RBI hit over the shortstop.
Winning pitcher Victor Norris hit a batter with two outs in the bottom of the seventh but retired the next hitter on a grounder to short to end the game. Elkton had taken a 3-0 lead in the third with help from sloppy Rising Sun defense. Rising Sun responded with four runs in the home half. Cameron Altland, Dakota Hodgson, and Jake Keane each drove in a run with a hit and Casey Baker had an RBI grounder and reached safely on an error. Elkton went back on top by two in the fifth on an RBI single by Chris Brinton and squeeze bunt by Will Lorman. Rising Sun countered quickly again. One run scored when Baker's fly ball to right was misjudged and the tying run crossed the plate after a Rising Sun player was caught in rundown between first and second and an Elkton player slipped.
