Perryville Little League won the Senior Division softball state title by sweeping the District 7 representative Calvert Saturday at Eder Park. Perryville prevailed 18-1 in the opener and 29-0 in the second game. Both games went five innings. Winning pitcher Aleshia Shires allowed just one hit in the second game – a leadoff double by Bella Lunczynski. Kadi Davis delivered five hits and scored five times. Jordyn Pollitt provided four hits and scored four runs. Sarah Chandler contributed four hits and scored a pair of runs. Nikki Hill had a three-run triple.
Melissa Savin pitched Perryville to a victory in the first game. Perryville jumped on top 3-0 in the first inning, started with a bunt basehit by Brooke Reynolds. Carly White belted an RBI triple in the left-center gap. Davis singled sharply to left to plate White and Pollitt drilled a run-scoring double to deep left. Chandler doubled in the second and Kaitlyn Griffin and White each knocked in a run. Ahead 7-1, Perryville tallied three times in the fourth and added eight in the fifth. White had an RBI triple in the fourth and Pollitt contributed an RBi double before scoring on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Sierra Johnson. In the fifth, Pollitt clubbed a two-run triple and Griffin, White, Davis, and Savin each knocked in a run. Perryville was without pitcher and cleanup hitter Emily Phillips whose season ended because of a non-softball related injury. Comments are closed.
