It will be something of a new beginning for the Perryville boys soccer team. The core of the team which won a Susquehanna Division title three years ago has all graduated. The Panthers also have a new coach as Keith Prevost takes over for George Reynolds. Reynolds, who served two stints as Perryville head coach and led the Panthers to their most successful seasons in the last 20 years, moved out of the area. Prevost brings experience, having worked as an assistant under Reynolds for two of the last three years. The Panthers still have some experience sprinkled throughout the lineup. Seniors Ben Douty and Andrew Crouse will be counted on to spearhead the defense along with junior Zach Buckson, who played soccer as a freshman and ran cross country last fall. "We're hoping they learn to play together," Prevost said. Prevost's son, Trevor, a transfer from Harford Christian, is slated to start in goal. The Panthers have a wealth of experience in the midfield with the coach's older son Gunther, Nick Roberts, Nick Ports, and Austin Hopka. Senior Chris Hawley and sophomore Jon Hamamcioglu add varsity experience at forward. Junior Zach Strong, who played goalie last year, will see action at forward. Keith Prevost says Perryville is aiming for a record of .500 or better. "We're hoping we win as many as we lose," he said. "I think we'll get stronger as the year goes on." Comments are closed.
