The Cecil Legion team topped Dundalk 14-1 in five innings Wednesday evening at Cecil College. Brennan Martz, making his final Legion appearance prior to reaching the age limit, tossed four innings of shutout ball before allowing an unearned run in the fifth. Nick Gregson belted a two-run homer to highlight Cecil's seven-run fourth inning uprising and Derek Schoff and Jared Brustman each collected three hits in the game.
Cecil (5-2) tallied twice in the second to take the lead. Schoff led off with a double over the right fielder's head. Chris Roosevelt blooped a single over the head of the first baseman to put runners on the corners. After an out, Owen Null walked to load the bases. Will Lorman plated a run with a sacrifice fly and Brustman knocked in another on a bunt base hit. In the third, Martz singled to center and Gregson looped a hit to left. Schoff lashed a two-run double to left-center then Roosevelt singled. With two outs, Null knocked in a run on an infield hit in the hole. Brustman bunted for a hit again and two runs scored when the catcher's throw sailed down the right field line. Gregson blasted a two-run shot in the fourth to make it 9-0. With two outs, Lee Smith doubled and scored when Null reached on an error. Brustman crushed a two-run double to deep left to lengthen Cecil's lead to 12-0. Soloman Harris delivered an RBI single and Schoff added an RBI single. Comments are closed.
