The Chesapeake City All-Stars captured the Little League Maryland District 5 9-10 softball title with a 13-0 victory over Elkton in four innings Tuesday night at Eder Park. Winning pitcher Arianna Frey struck out eight and yielded two hits and two walks. She also doubled and scored twice. Alexis Bailey tripled and knocked in a pair of runs. Emily Heath had a double and two RBIs.Ellie Kemether recorded a single and drove in two. Anna Wilson and Mariah Penta each had a single and an RBI. Madison Fleming and Olivia McCraw both had an RBI and scored a run. Olivia Marro and Brooke Sczubelek each scored a run. Sierra Secor and Grace Koerner each had a hit for Elkton. In 10-11 baseball, Rising Sun plays Elkton tonight in Rising Sun following the 9-10 contest. Rising Sun can capture the district title with a win. An Elkton victory tonight forces a championship game Wednesday. Elkton can clinch the 10-11 softball title today against Rising Sun at 5 p.m. at Trego Field in Perryville. If Rising Sun wins the decisive game would be played Wednesday. Chesapeake City can wrap up the district 9-10 softball title with a win today at 7 p.m. at Eder Park in Elkton. |
