Three Rising Sun High seniors have decided where they will continue their lacrosse careers next year.
Defenseman Bryan Butler will attend Gwynedd Mercy University, goalie Noah Jones will further his education and lacrosse career at Centenary College, and long stick midfielder Wyatt Kennedy is headed for Elizabethtown College. Perryville High has assembled a star-studded cast to coach its boys lacrosse team.

Perryville's Zac Zacerous proved that adage Saturday night as he captured the 1A/2A state title in the 170-pound weight class. Although that axiom is typically applied to other sports, Zacerous (35-3) used it to claim state gold at The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro. CJ Dunston managed to outdo himself.
The Tri-State Christian Academy graduate has followed a remarkable junior year with an even more successful senior season. Dunston will lead undefeated Lancaster Bible College in its first-ever NCAA Division III National Tournament appearance this afternoon. The Chargers will take on The College of Wooster at 5:30 p.m. on the campus of Catholic University in Washington, D.C. On November 6, 2010, no one in their right mind could've predicted Gabe Sherrod would be chasing after Heisman Trophy candidates six years later. Yet that's now likely to happen this fall. The former Perryville High School quarterback has transformed himself into a quarterback's worst nightmare – a sack hungry defensive end. Following a sensational season at Delaware State University, Sherrod has elected to use his final year of eligibility at ACC school Syracuse. Sherrod is on schedule to graduate from Delaware State this spring with a math degree. NCAA rules allow student-athletes who have graduated to transfer to another Division I school without having to sit out a season. The Perryville girls basketball team had been pointing to this game for a year.
Despite a few shaky moments late, the Panthers were determined to make sure it did not slip away. Perryville exacted a measure of revenge for a playoff loss to Bohemia Manor last winter by ousting the Eagles 46-42 Tuesday night, March 1. Danger lurked as the Rising Sun boys basketball team played its postseason opener Monday night.
Darius Dangerfield of Harford Tech to be precise. The diminutive Dangerfield scored 13 of his 32 points in the fourth quarter as the Cobras ousted the Tigers 74-62. |
