Rising Sun and Chesapeake City are the two unbeaten teams after the first two days of the Little League Maryland District 5 9-10 baseball tournament being played at Biles Field in Rising Sun. They are scheduled to meet tonight (Thursday, June 26), at 5:30 p.m. The winner of that game advances to the championship round Monday night at 5:30. Elkton and Havre de Grace play Friday at 5:30 in the losers bracket. Wednesday, June 25 Elkton 8, Perryville 1 Kyle Polaski, Adam Pressler, and Kaiden Mellott combined on a one-hitter for Elkton. Elkton scored six runs in the fourth inning to key the victory. John Cherwaty recorded a pair of hits and Mellott, Warren, Pressler, Jay Perez, and Ryan Layton each added a hit. For Perryville, Eric Lee singled home Gary Elville in the fifth. Havre de Grace 7, North East 3 Caedon Kestner and Frank Siana combined to notch 15 strikeouts for Havre de Grace. Benny Nena doubled, singled, and scored three runs. Kestner collected three singles. Siana had two hits and Austin Brown chipped in a hit. For North East, Dresden Knaub registered three hits and Chris Giles and Austin Keefer each added a hit. Tuesday, June 24 Rising Sun 11, Elkton 1 (4 innings) Rising Sun scored seven runs in the fourth to end the game. Jackson Stickney ignited the uprising with a single. Matthew Trout reached on an error. Owen Scott doubled and scored. Blake Flaugher reached on an error and Tyler Hogue walked. Josh Price and Daniel Tserkis singled sandwiched around a walk to Glen Peterson. Rising Sun had scored two runs in the third on RBIs from Josh Price and Jarrett Price. Josh Price finished with three hits. In the second, Josh Price smacked an RBI triple to left-center and scored when Tserkis reached on an error. Evan Slaybaugh doubled and singled for Rising Sun. Chesapeake City 10, Havre de Grace 0 (4 innings) Cole DeVary and Joey Warren combined to pitch a no-hitter with six strikeouts. Charlie Mason and Grant Mackie each had a triple, single, RBI, and run scored. DeVary singled twice and scored a run. Trent Wilson doubled and scored. Comments are closed.
