The Solanco JV football team suffered a 19-16 setback to Lampeter-Strasburg Monday, September 23. The Mules "played with great emotion and energy" and with the ball at the end of the game, came up just short of the go-ahead score, coach Chris Lenhart said. Vince Ortiz tossed two touchdown passes, one to Troy Berry and another to Billy Cooney. Prosper Eguzouwa punched in a two-point conversion. The Solanco defense, anchored by J.J. Gamber, Kyle Allen, and Zab Eshleman, recorded their first safety of the season. The Solanco JV football team dropped a 28-6 decision to visiting Oxford Monday, September 16. The Mules' Troy Berry returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown but that was the end of the offense. The Hornets used a strong running game to score four touchdowns. Hayden Herr and Zeb Eshelman both turned in strong performances on defense for Solanco. The loss evened the Mules record at 1-1 after an impressive win over Garden Spot in the opener. "One of the big differences between the last two weeks was the level of energy and emotion the young Mules played with," coach Chris Lenhart said via email. "The energy level, passion and emotion must raise to a consistently higher level to see continued improvement." The Solanco JV football team opened its season with a 28-20 triumph over visiting Garden Spot Monday, September 9. Prosper Eguzouwa returned a fumble and an interception for a touchdown to highlight a strong defensive performance. The defensive line was dominant, recording numerous sacks and tackles for losses. Hayden Herr, Dawson Gote, JJ Gamber, Billy Cooney, and Kodie Conrad anchored the defensive line. |
