Musser's Market has sold its grocery business to Giant, company officials announced in a Facebook post Sunday evening, August 18.
The stores' owners announced the closing to employees at a meeting on Sunday evening.
According to the post, Musser's will close in early October.
The closing ends the era of locally-owned supermarkets in the Southern End. Earlier this summer, Ferguson & Hassler sold its Quarryville store to Giant.
Musser's Market owns stores in Lancaster and Lebanon counties. The original store opened at the Buck and that location's store remains an anchor for a strip mall.
