A man from Willow Street and his stepfather have been charged with conspiring to steal four cartons of cigarettes from the Turkey Hill Market, 1010 Lancaster Pike, Drumore Township, state police report.
Zackary James Smith, 20, and David Alan McCullough, 43, both of Hawthorne Circle, were charged following the theft, Trooper First Class Josh Whiteside reported.
Smith, a clerk at the store, and McCullough were charged with retail theft and conspiracy to commit retail theft, TFC Whiteside said.
According to the trooper, McCullough posed as a customer at 2:50 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, and purchased a carton of cigarettes.
Smith put the carton in a bag and then pretended to ring up an additional four cartons of cigarettes and put them in the bag. McCullough then left the store without paying the $330.40 for the four additional cartons.
Smith was arrested at the store at 11:21 p.m. on July 20 and McCullough was taken into custody at the state police barrack after being called in for an interview, the trooper said.

EAST DRUMORE TOWNSHIP
THEFT - Someone stole flowers from an unattended stand at the end of the driveway at 740 Spring Valley Rd. on June 19, Trooper Nicholas Ciatto reported.
STRANGULATION - Donald Angelo Burkey, 27, of 475 Lancaster Pike, was charged with strangulation following a domestic dispute at that location at 4:05 a.m. on July 13, Trooper Frank J. Gawel reported.
DRUGS - While serving a warrant, state police found two people at 620 Hollow Rd. were in possession of drug paraphernalia, Trooper Anthony Urban reported.
Maison Charles Wimer, 26, and Margie Lee Snavely, 43, both of Providence Township, were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, the trooper said.
ASSAULT - Devon Mylin, 26, of Quarryville, and Erika Dukeman, 25, of Lancaster, were charged with assault after allegedly attacking a man from Lancaster at 102 Groffdale Dr. at 3 p.m. on July 5, Trooper Alexander Barry reported.
