A man has been charged with attempted homicide for allegedly trying to kill another man with a machete, state police report.
According to police, Aaron Alexander Rowland, 20, got into a fight with a 24-year-old man at 703 Hollow Rd., Providence Township, and chased the older man outside where he stabbed him with a machete. The victim was taken to Lancaster General Hospital with a serious neck injury.
The two men got into a fight over a TV remote control, police said.
Rowland, 20, of New Providence, was arrested without incident at 2:20 p.m. on May 10, Trooper Nelson Renno reported. He was charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and possession of instruments of a crime.
State police also reported the following incidents in the Southern End:
COLLISION - There were no injuries when a vehicle ran off May Post Office Rd. at 7:58 a.m. on May 2, Trooper Kurt Yannelli reported.
According to the trooper, Dana R. Lutz, 27, of Mount Joy, was driving south when she fell asleep at the wheel. Her Kia Forte crossed the road, hit a fence, and came to rest in a ditch.
Lutz was cited for the collision, the trooper said.
HARASSMENT - Rodney Layton Morris, 53, of Elverson, was charged with harassment at 5:49 p.m. on May 2 after he allegedly threw a bottle of cleaning liquid at a woman during a dispute at Stream Ln. east of Peach Bottom Rd., Trooper Nolen McElwee reported.
HARASSMENT - Joseph Rankin Jr., no age or address given, was charged with harassment following a domestic violence incident in the 100 block of House Rock Rd. at 4:52 p.m. on May 7, Trooper Levinsky reported. According to the trooper, Rankin allegedly shoved a 34-year-old woman to the ground during the incident.
THREATS - Lara Whipple, no age or address given, was charged with making terroristic threats and harassment following a domestic dispute in the 200 block of Martic Heights Dr. a 6:16 p.m. on May 7, Trooper Levinsky reported.
According to the trooper, Whipple scratched a 45-year-old man's neck and threatened to kill him.
THEFT - A 44-year-old woman is suspected of stealing checks from her parents and forging them, Trooper Matthew Weckesser reported.
According to the trooper, the daughter took eight checks from a lock box, forged both their signatures, and cashed them for a total amount of $3,260.
ENDANGERING - William Robert Fuller, 19, of Christiana, was charged with recklessly endangering another person and driving under the influence at 8:13 p.m. on May 4, Trooper Chad Dohner reported.
According to the trooper, police tried to stop a Volkswagen for a traffic violation on White Oak Rd. The car fled and police pursued until the Volkswagen became disabled.
Fuller was taken into custody and was also charged with fleeing and eluding, possession of drug paraphernalia, and additional traffic violations.
The two passengers in the car, an 18-year-old girl and a 19-year-old man, were not injured.
BURGLARY - Someone got into a garage in the 7300 block of White Oak Rd. between 6 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on April 30, Trooper Adam Hartzell reported. Once inside, the burglar took a John Deere tractor.
