David Irwin Aument, 62, of Quarryville, went home to be with his Lord, on Saturday, July 7, 2018. Born in Holtwood, he was a son of the late Clyde R. and June Marie (Osman) Aument. Dave and his wife, Wanda L. (Graver) Aument had celebrated 43 years of marriage in March. Dave was a 1973 graduate of Solanco High School. He owned and operated D.I. Aument Trucking in Quarryville. Dave was a member of Faith Reformed Presbyterian Church and a member of the Goldwing Motorcycle Riders Association. He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan and enjoyed coaching Midget Baseball. One of his proudest achievements was coaching the 1996 Lancaster New Era Baseball Champions. Dave also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, but his greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren. Christopher Michael “Mike” Hess, 47, of New Providence, entered into rest unexpectedly on Friday, July 6, 2018 at his home. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of James D. Hess, Sr. and the late Verlaine Fisher Hess. Mike was always there to lend a helping hand. He was a beloved father, uncle, brother and friend. He was also a fan of the Baltimore Ravens. He is survived by his children: Alex Hess and Brittany, wife of David Littleton. He is also survived by his companion, Melanie Dosch; 3 brothers: James D. Jr., husband of Amy Hess; Jeremy, husband of Rebecca Hess; and Jason, husband of Cori Hess; maternal grandparents, Howard and Arlene Fisher and numerous nieces and nephews. J. Roland Forbes, 92, died Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. He was the husband of the late Anna Mae Waver Forbes who died September 12, 2013. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late James P. and Vera Brown Forbes. Roland owned and operated the former Forbes’ Mens and Boys Store in Quarryville. Active in his community, he was a member of the Quarryville Lions Club where he served as past president, the Teenage Club in Quarryville, Washington Lodge # 156 F&AM, and Gideon’s International. He was also a member of Oak Hill Fellowship Church, Quarryville. Roland was an avid reader and traveler. He and his wife belonged to the Shasta Club, an RV camping club, traveling especially to Ocean City, NJ, and Florida. Roland served his county in WWII with the US Army Air Corp. Surviving him is a daughter, Marjorie Anne wife of Arnt Thuen of Morris Plains, NJ; and a granddaughter Anna. Lindrek Duane Weaver, 12, of Strasburg, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 30 as the result of an accidental drowning in Little Britain Twp. Born in Kinzers, he was the son of Linford and Lisa (Rohrer) Weaver. He had recently finished 6th grade and had attended Kirkwood Mennonite Church with his family.
In addition to his parents, Lindrek is survived by siblings: Jennalyn, Shaunda, Joella, Davin, and Takara all at home. Also surviving are his maternal grandparents, Leon and Mary Louise Rohrer and his paternal grandmother, Alice Weaver. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Martin Weaver Thomas D. Boldt, 94 of Quarryville, entered into rest on June 29, 2018. Born in Blairsville, PA, he was married to Barbara (Smith) Boldt for 65 years. His wife passed away in 2014. He is survived by three children, Susan, Kay and Daniel, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Bob served in the US Navy Pacific Theater during WWII. He graduated from Pittsburg School of Plastic Engineering and worked for the former Alcoa Metals 1949-1979. Their dream was to move to the country, so in 1970 they moved from King of Prussia to Quarryville, purchased a small farm on Deaver Road, completely restored the house, planted fruit and nut trees, raspberries, blueberries and a large vegetable garden. They installed a windmill, which filled a new pond from the creek. In the winter Tom encouraged everyone in the neighborhood to come ice skate. He installed lights and goal posts. They provided ice skates in sizes from small children to adult. Tom and Barbara opened Boldt’s Antiques in 1980, which they enjoyed for 12 years. He volunteered at Habitat for Humanity 15 years, Meals on Wheels, Quarryville Library and many SECA fundraising events, especially loving the annual plant sale, his specialty being on the tulip wagon. Tom cared deeply about his friends, family and community. He was generous with his time and talents and loved to tell a story. Marion Ruth Pinckney, 90, of Quarryville went home to be with Jesus on June 30, 2018. Marion was born in New York City and graduated from Hunter College. Together with her husband, Reverend Earl Pinckney, she served as a missionary in Brazil and Chile. Marion’s life was centered on serving God and others through music. While in Quarryville the last 23 years, she gave piano lessons, concerts and nourished many in local churches, the community and the residents of Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community with her music. Up until two months before her passing, Marion played piano and organ for Faith Reformed Presbyterian Church, where she was a member. Left to honor and remember her love are her 2 sons, Jim (Suzanne) and Reverend Daniel (Iara), grandchildren – Todd (Jess), Daniel, Laura (Rob Stanz) and David (Ashley) ; 2 great grandchildren – Jordan and Juliette, nieces and nephews and countless friends. Marion was preceded in death by her husband, the Reverend Earl Pinckney. |
