Thomas D. Boldt, 94 of Quarryville, entered into rest on June 29, 2018. Born in Blairsville, PA, he was married to Barbara (Smith) Boldt for 65 years. His wife passed away in 2014. He is survived by three children, Susan, Kay and Daniel, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Bob served in the US Navy Pacific Theater during WWII. He graduated from Pittsburg School of Plastic Engineering and worked for the former Alcoa Metals 1949-1979. Their dream was to move to the country, so in 1970 they moved from King of Prussia to Quarryville, purchased a small farm on Deaver Road, completely restored the house, planted fruit and nut trees, raspberries, blueberries and a large vegetable garden. They installed a windmill, which filled a new pond from the creek. In the winter Tom encouraged everyone in the neighborhood to come ice skate. He installed lights and goal posts. They provided ice skates in sizes from small children to adult. Tom and Barbara opened Boldt’s Antiques in 1980, which they enjoyed for 12 years. He volunteered at Habitat for Humanity 15 years, Meals on Wheels, Quarryville Library and many SECA fundraising events, especially loving the annual plant sale, his specialty being on the tulip wagon. Tom cared deeply about his friends, family and community. He was generous with his time and talents and loved to tell a story. He was an organic gardener, a wood worker, antique restorer and played on a senior softball league.
Tom & his wife were members of Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church since 2005. An informal visitation will be held on Saturday July 14, 2018 from 10-11:30 at Dewald Funeral & Cremation Services, 227 W. 4th St., Quarryville. Interment will be private. Kindly omit flowers.
