Ruth P. Denlinger, age 86 of Paradise, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at home. She was the wife of the late Lewis H. Denlinger for 67 Years before his passing on August 1, 2022. Born in Kinzers, she was the daughter of the late Paul R. And Margaret Bonsall Phenneger. She was a member of Calvary Monument Bible Church where she spent her time serving in the nursery. Ruth work for Shaklee Business for 20 years. Ruth loved bowling, reading, and trips to Myrtle Beach where she frequented the Wind Surfer Hotel for over 30 years. She is survived by 2 children; Kevin, husband of Cindi Denlinger Denlinger of Colorado and Constance “Connie”, wife of Tim DeGrave of Paradise, 5 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Dennis J. “Denny” Witmer, Sr., 73, of New Providence, passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Shirley A. (Flora) Witmer, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Amos G. Witmer and Mary E. (Henry) Warner. Denny was a graduate of Solanco High School, class of 1970. Following high school, he attended the Willow Street Vo-Tech to study HVAC. Denny went on to have a career in industrial maintenance, working for Herr Pump Company, Frank Ix & Sons, Inc./Mirarobles, Inc., and most recently for Keystone Weaving, where he retired as a maintenance supervisor. J. Louise Reece May, 85, of Nottingham, PA, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024. She was born in Trade, TN on March 20, 1939 to the late Oscar and Maude Reece. She was what she called herself “a hillbilly” who loved to work in her garden and flower beds before her health prevented her to do so. She was very proud to say that she was able to cook and feed the residents of Ware Presbyterian Home for over 30 years. She always had an open door when her boys would bring home extra mouths to feed. Her family was everything to her. John (Jack) W. Hughes, Jr., 94, of West Grove, PA, formerly of Ocean City, NJ, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Jenner’s Pond, West Grove, PA. He was the husband of the late Jane Nelson Hughes. Born in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late John W. Sr., and Dorothy Hoffman Hughes. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. John was employed with DuPont for 32 years as an International Sales Manager retiring in 1985. He enjoyed fishing, painting, golf and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by three sons, John W. Hughes, III (Mary) of Oxford, Richard Hughes (Beverly) of Newark, DE and David Hughes (Carol) of Oxford; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Kenton L. Baker, 69, of Strasburg, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 31, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Debra (Epperley) Baker, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage. He was born on October 2, 1954, in Washington D.C. to the late Leroy and Marilie (Anderson) Baker. Ken graduated from Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, MA with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. He held various positions over the years, including working in research at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, MA, quality control, and as a part-time professor. The profession he enjoyed the most was being a self-taught Master Kiln Builder and Potter. He designed or built kilns in Switzerland, Portugal, Australia, Mexico, Canada and the United States. His pottery has been shown in multiple national and international exhibitions. He also taught wood firing workshops in several places. Donald P. Schneider, Jr., 74, of Elkton, MD, formerly of Oxford, PA, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024 at home. He was the husband of Thelma Campbell Schneider. Born in Lancaster, PA he was the son of the late Donald P., Sr., and Lily Steudler Schneider. Donald was a member of Waterway Church, Oxford. He enjoyed playing guitar, music and writing. He is survived by his wife; one son, Joshua Paul Schneider (Amber); three grandchildren, Logan, Oliver and Slade; two brothers, Richard Schneider and Timothy Schneider; and one sister, Mari Cote. John J. “Jack” Altrogge, 71, of Peach Bottom, entered into rest unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, March 31, 2024. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Donegan) Altrogge. He was the loving husband of Debra (Pineda) Altrogge for 28 years. Jack had worked for Excelon Corp. as a maintenance technician for over 40 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Chris Altrogge, Kevin Altrogge, Beth Altrogge, Jamie Gerlach (Devin), Ryan Galbreath (Christina) Nate Galbreath (Amy), and Jared Galbreath (Megan); 16 grandchildren; and sisters: Kathleen Altrogge, Maria Paradiso, Patricia Bunting, and Joanne Benfer. Patricia H. Sabatine, 88, of Conestoga, entered into rest at her home on Friday, March 29, 2024.
Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Leonard A. and Henrietta A. (Miller) Deaver. She was the loving wife of Joseph G. Sabatine for over 68 years. Patricia was a homemaker and enjoyed playing pinochle, bowling, and playing piano. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Deborah (Gerald) Eckman and Brenda (Dennis) Landis; 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Shirley J. (Brammer) Monk went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday March 30, 2024, at her home in Quarryville, PA. She was 87 years old. Shirley was raised in Maryland but spent most of her life living in the Little Britain/Quarryville areas of PA. She also lived in France, NY, and VA. She was the wife of the late William A. Monk. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Blanche M. (Pyle) Brammer, her two children, Debra B. and William A. Monk, Jr., as well as her two brothers, Clyde Jr. and Kenneth E. Brammer. Amos “Amy” Glick King, 82, of Witmer, went to be with the Lord at his home on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Jane Ayers-King, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage. Born in East Lampeter Township, he was the son of the late Amos and Mary (Glick) King. Amos proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1964 -1966. As a young man he learned to be an electrician, first for High Steel, then he worked many years for Lapp Electric, and most recently he worked for Yarnell Security, retiring at the age of 80. Amos was a diehard fan of NASCAR, collected NASCAR memorabilia, and followed several drivers. He was an excellent electrician, known for being a hard worker, and he could figure out and fix most anything. Amos was a member of Calvary Church for 40 years. Having been blessed with marriage after being single for many years, Amos frequently stated, “I became a husband, father, and grandfather with one I do.” |
