Kenton L. Baker, 69, of Strasburg, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 31, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Debra (Epperley) Baker, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage. He was born on October 2, 1954, in Washington D.C. to the late Leroy and Marilie (Anderson) Baker. Ken graduated from Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, MA with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. He held various positions over the years, including working in research at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, MA, quality control, and as a part-time professor. The profession he enjoyed the most was being a self-taught Master Kiln Builder and Potter. He designed or built kilns in Switzerland, Portugal, Australia, Mexico, Canada and the United States. His pottery has been shown in multiple national and international exhibitions. He also taught wood firing workshops in several places. In his spare time, Ken enjoyed visiting nursing homes, gardening, spending time by the river and reading his Bible. He was a devout Christian and attended New Providence Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Ken is survived by two sons, Erik, husband of Ofeliya of Walpole, MA and Joshua, husband of Mari of Marina, CA; one grandson, Valentino of Marina, CA; a brother, Byron, husband of Lisa of Lancaster; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Memorial Service will take place a New Providence Baptist Church, 2411 Beaver Valley Pike, New Providence, PA on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 12-1:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Dewald Funeral and Cremation Services Inc.
