Robert L. Rinier, age 92, formerly of Lancaster, passed away at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. He was the husband of the late Irene M. Burkey Rinier, who passed away on March 20, 2015. He was born in Ronks, son of the late Charles & Eva Scarborough Rinier. He was a member of the Oregon Community United Methodist Church of Lititz. He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict on the USS Hornet as a Third Class Radarman. He worked for the Lancaster City Water Department for 22 years retiring in 1999. Yvonne Renverse Mapp, age 101, of Oxford, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 in her apartment at Ware Presbyterian Village. Born in Belgium on June 30, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Fernand and Louise Quintart Renverse. Yvonne was predeceased by her husband, Isaac Mapp, and her brother, Mutien She is survived by her closest friends, Laura Anderson, Rita Smyth and Robert Lillich. Yvonne’s life was one of music. A graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels where she studied piano, chamber music, harmony, keyboard harmony and music history, she was named Professor of Piano of the School of Music in Felieze and the Music Academy of Soignies in 1945. Shirley A. Baumgardner, 81, of Cochranville, PA, peacefully passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at Twin Pines Health Care Center, West Grove, PA. She was the wife of the late Ronald Baumgardner and 1st husband James Darrel Schuler. Born in West Chester, PA she was the daughter of the late Carl E. and Elsie Willis Onks. She was employed with the Nottingham Inn, Herr’s Food, Charlotte Motor Speedway and as a nanny. Nicholas R. Dewey, age 47, of Christiana, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023, as the result of a vehicle accident. He was the husband of Nancy Dewey, with whom he would have celebrated 26 years of marriage on November 22nd. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, son of Kenneth Dewey of Wilkes-Barre and Barbara Miner Dennis wife of Bruce Dennis of Hometown, PA. He graduated from Wilkes University with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering in 2002 and had a successful career working for the Department of Defense at Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division. He was an active member of the Nottingham Missionary Baptist Church. Margaret Mary Driscoll, 72, of Oxford, PA, formerly of Sun Village, PA, Delaware County, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at home.
Born in Chester, PA she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Marie Graham Phillips. Margaret was a member of St. Rose of Lima, Eddystone. She was a cafeteria aid at Nottingham Elementary for 20 years and was previously employed with Fibre- Metal Products Co., Concordville as Local Union President for 33 years. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, Rod Stewart music and especially all her students. Rachel B. Herschberger, age 55, of 4703 Homeville Road, Cochranville, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at home.
She was the wife of Enos B. Herschberger. Born in Christiana, she was the daughter of the late Eli P. and Fannie Blank Esh. Rachel was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. With a somber heart full of gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we honor Beverly Anne (Smith) Conklin, as she finds her peace in heaven. Born in Windsor, NY on August 19, 1947, Bev's legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering faith has touched and inspired all who knew her. Known for her boundless compassion, Bev judged no one and forgave everyone, setting an example of grace for all to follow. Together with her loving husband, Dave, Bev cherished a marriage spanning an incredible 57 years. Their journey together bore the family she loved so deeply: their daughter, Deborah Anne (Conklin) Ryan and her husband, Timothy; their son, David Alan Conklin and his wife, Jodi; and their cherished grandchildren Angie, Cheyanna, Cayden, Aaron, Emily, Haley, Matthew, Marcus, and several great grandchildren. Bev was also a beloved sister to Wanda Chisarick, Shirley Best, Marie Benedict, and the late Fred Smith. Thomas A. Haba, Sr., age 79 of Mt. Joy, PA, passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. He was born November 17, 1943, in Youngwood, PA, son of the late Joseph Mark & Justine Margaret (Knizner) Haba. After high school he attended North Carolina State College on a full scholarship to play football. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Vietnam War as Staff Sergeant. From 1975 to 1989 he worked for the Philadelphia Laborers Union and then the Philadelphia Carpenters Union retiring in 2010 as a Superintendent. He was a member of the Hempfield United Methodist Church, where he enjoyed bible studies and other church functions. He enjoyed going on vacations, puzzles, reading, football and most of all he loved spending time with his family. Jack E. Lindsley, Jr., age 84 of Ronks, went home to his savior on Thursday, October 10, 2023. He was surrounded by his family at Lancaster General Hospital shortly after accepting Jesus and proclaiming, “Give God the Glory!” He was the husband of his sweetheart Caroline “Carol” Miller Lindsley for 63 wonderful years. So sweet in fact, that the song Sweet Caroline would always get him out of his seat to enjoy a dance with his loving wife. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Jack E. Sr., and Dorothy Rice Lindsley. Bruce Letterman, age 76, of Newark, DE, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 11, 2023. Bruce was a faithful Christian and active member of Newark Baptist Church. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. Bruce was deeply devoted to his family and loved anytime that the family could be together. Bruce enjoyed working on cars, especially old cars, and he was a whiz at working on small engines. Bruce was always helping in the community; he often fixed lawnmowers and people knew who to come to if they needed help with anything mechanical! Bruce enjoyed watching sports with his grandson. He loved animals, especially his dogs Jag, Taz and Jazz who were his constant companions. |
