Margaret Morrison Miller, 103, of the Glen at Willow Valley, formerly of Quarryville, entered into rest on Friday, June 28, 2019. She was the wife of the late Paul Mellis Miller who passed away on January 10, 2014. A former teacher, Mrs. Miller was born on November 28, 1915 in Southern Lancaster County. She was the daughter of the late William A., and Katherine E. (Hays) Morrison. A graduate of Quarryville High School, she went on to earn her Master’s Degree from Women’s College University of Delaware in 1937. Later that year, she began teaching at Newark Delaware Elementary School, where she taught for 23 years. She was also a teaching principal and enjoyed being a mentor to many students. Evelyn B. Crider, 84, of Little Britain, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. Born in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late J. Marlin and Marie Louise (Landis) Burkholder. She was the loving wife of Fred Crider for over 65 years. Evelyn’s love for the Lord was obvious to those that knew her. She led several women’s Bible studies out of her home. She also operated Little Britain Manor Bed and Breakfast for many years as well as helping her husband on the family farm. Jeanne M. Gochnauer of Quarryville went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 27, 2019. She was 100. Born in Quarryville, she was the daughter of the late Robert W. Pollock and Rebecca Brechbill Pollock. Jeanne graduated from Quarryville High School in 1936 and then attended the University of Delaware in pursuit of a degree in home economics. As an outstanding seamstress and talented cook, she shared her passion for these interests with family members and friends as well as with many students while she served as a substitute home economics teacher at Solanco High School. |
