Jeanne M. Gochnauer of Quarryville went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 27, 2019. She was 100. Born in Quarryville, she was the daughter of the late Robert W. Pollock and Rebecca Brechbill Pollock. Jeanne graduated from Quarryville High School in 1936 and then attended the University of Delaware in pursuit of a degree in home economics. As an outstanding seamstress and talented cook, she shared her passion for these interests with family members and friends as well as with many students while she served as a substitute home economics teacher at Solanco High School. In addition, she utilized her talents to create window treatments, slipcovers, and other home decorations while assisting her husband Charles with his painting and paperhanging business.
Jeanne was a dedicated member of the Union Presbyterian Church and displayed her devotion by singing in the choir while her husband Charles directed, serving on various committees, making and maintaining friendships with church peers, but most of all by living and modelling a Christian attitude and demeanor throughout her life. In addition, she was passionate about her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and loved every moment that she could be with them. Mrs. Gochnauer is survived by two children, Barbara E. Herr (Wayne) of New Providence, PA and Richard D. Gochnauer (Lea) of Elkton, MD; five grandsons, Bradford Herr (Elizabeth), Bryan Herr (Kelly), Brent Herr (Caroline), Blake Herr (Lynn), Craig Gochnauer (Barbara); one granddaughter, Kimberly Watson; great grandchildren, Brandon Herr (Taylor), Amanda Herr, Natalie Herr, Kendra Herr, Karissa Herr, Caiden Herr, Caleb Herr, Lydia Herr, Stefan Watson, Cory Watson(Rachel), Wade Gochnauer, and Chase Gochnauer. Her husband, Charles C. Gochnauer, died in 2004. One sister, Ruth Wittel and one brother William Pollock are deceased. Services will be held at the Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Center, Ellingsworth Auditorium, 625 Robert Fulton Highway, Quarryville, PA on Friday, July 5, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. Private traditional burial will be in the Quarryville Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the memorial service. Arrangements were entrusted to Reynolds Funeral and Cremation Services, Quarryville.
