Willis G. “Willie” Weaver, 78, of Lancaster passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 9, 2017. Born in Buena Vista, Salisbury Township, he was the son of the late Willis and M. Elizabeth (Groff) Weaver. Willie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty (Groff) Weaver. Willie worked for the former Ford New Holland as a machinist for over 37 years, retiring in 1998. Following retirement, he worked at the Miller’s Greenhouse for several years, where he met many wonderful friends. Willie excelled at racing homing pigeons in his younger years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and attending his grandchildren’s activities. Willie was an avid Phillies, Eagles, and Flyers fan. He also followed Villanova basketball and Drexel wrestling. Willie proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1959-1962. He was also a member of Faith Bible Fellowship Church. In addition to his wife, Willie is survived by two daughters: Judy (Bob) Heiney of Willow Street; Joyce (David) Goodhart of Lancaster; 4 grandchildren: Justin (Teresa) Heiney of Lancaster, Kayla Heiney of Willow Street; Joey and Lexi Goodhart of Lancaster and 2 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are 4 sisters: Doris Breneman and Elva Sides of Lancaster; Alta (Vernon “Bud”) Heinley of East Petersburg; and Elizabeth (Ron) Schoelen of Arizona. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Ivan and Irvin Weaver and a sister, Vera Phillips.
Funeral Services will take place at Faith Bible Fellowship Church, 151 North Donerville Rd., Lancaster, PA on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens. There will be a viewing at the church on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. Kindly omit flowers.
