William “Bill” H. Walker, 87, of Quarryville died Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the Mennonite Home. He was 87. Born May 7, 1930 in Gap, he was the son of the late Mina Coates and Joseph Lewis Walker. Mr. Walker graduated from the former Cochranville High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. For 17 years, he was employed as a technician with Curtiss Breeding Services, Inc., working in southern Lancaster County. From 1960-2015, he had been a real estate agent, most recently with Berkshire Hathaway in the Quarryville office. Mr. Walker enjoyed baking cakes and cookies, especially Angel Food cakes and Springerle cookies, which he enjoyed entering in local fairs. He also enjoyed music.
Mr. Walker was a member of the Solanco Bible Church and Skerrett Lodge #343 F.&A.M. of Cochranville. He is survived by two sons, Michael S. Walker of Del.; and Brian W., husband of Kimberly (McClucas) Walker, and a grandson, Ryan M. Walker, all of Quarryville. He is also survived by his longtime friend, G. Jean Frey of Lancaster. On January 11, 1958 he was married to Florence (Wilhelm) Walker who died January 18, 1978. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert Joseph Walker in 1999 and Charles Coates Walker in 2004. A funeral service will be held at Solanco Bible Church, 166 Oak Bottom Rd., Quarryville, on Monday, January 15, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Michael Wagner officiating. There will be a viewing at the church from 10-11 a.m. Burial will follow the service in the Quarryville Cemetery.
