Travis Wayne Giffing, 37, of Peach Bottom, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly due to complications as a result of a brain tumor on Sunday, August 5, 2018, while vacationing in St. Petersburg, Florida. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Robert A. and Patricia A. (Young) Giffing. Travis was a graduate of Solanco High School, class of 1998, where he was a lead percussionist of the marching band. Since music was a passion of his life, Travis found employment as a salesperson for Guitar Center and Drums Etc., teacher of private music lessons, and was the drummer in a number of bands, most notably No Apology, Blue Corduroy, The Vagrants, and Poppa Doc. In his younger years, Travis was active in The Boy Scouts, and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He also enjoyed riding dirt bikes and working on cars. Travis was known for having an outgoing personality and connecting with people. His ability to walk into a crowd of strangers and walk out with several friends will be deeply missed. In addition to his parents, Travis is survived by his brother, Ryan R. Giffing and sister-in-law Stahsha, of Wernersville; niece and nephew, Alaina and Robbie Giffing, who he dearly loved; maternal grandfather, Earl W. Young, of Peach Bottom; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, JoAnne (Grubb) Young, and paternal grandparents, Reed and Edna (Gentry) Giffing.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21, at Dewald Funeral and Cremation Services, 227 West 4th Street, Quarryville, PA 17566, with a time of visitation from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
